peristent but unsubstaniated rumors that the family had another son older than
Norman. Sterling is said to have suffered from mental insanity and was reportedly
moved from a sanitarium in Michigan to the Montana State Hospital
in Warm Springs when the family journeyed to Montana.
There are only a couple of
pictures
available of this purported family member.
One reason the veracity of this rumor has been hard to ascertain is that Norman and
his brothers were reluctant to talk about it, especially around their mother
Florence.
